Biography

Hi!!!  I am Ms. Jana McLachlan—Ms. M to most at school :) I love teaching young children. I have been teaching Early Childhood students (K-2) for over 20 years. For 11 of those years I have been teaching Kindergarten here at Hawthorn Academy. I graduated from Weber State University with a dual bachelor of science degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education. To better meet student needs I then returned and earned by Special Education endorsement. I have also researched and participated in training to teach reading using best practices strategies.

My passions are my family of eight children and their spouses, 14 grandchildren and their pets—4 dogs, 2 cats, and many fish! I also enjoy collecting children's books, reading, and camping.
